Open Development & Education Statement on Black Lives Matter

Ending racism is a fundamental part of human rights, we unequivocally assert that Black Lives Matter.

We at Open Development & Education Reject the discriminatory practices against Black people in the United States of America.

We stand in solidarity with those calling for an end to all forms of racial discrimination around the world. 

Through slavery, colonialism, apartheid, indentured labour, mass incarceration, police brutality and modern-day economic slavery, millions of black people Around the world have had their lives taken, or have been forced to live under unjust systems designed to benefit the white and/or elite at the expense of black lives.

Education is a driver of social change and justice globally. It is through a combination of education and action that systems of discrimination can be dismantled. 

We know there is a lot more work to be done; the momentum must continue to create real change.
